EASTER EGG HUNT TURNS INTO MELEE
POLICE CLEAR HUNDREDS OF ONLOOKERS AFTER FIGHT BREAKS OUT AT PARK

Columbus, GA - What had been planned as an Easter egg hunt at Carver Park Sunday afternoon turned into a melee between two women that took Columbus police nearly an hour to subdue...

That's what can happen when people get together for an egg hunt.  Each year we wonder what will happen when the dogs are turned loose to gather the goodies that are strategically placed throughout the Pyron's yard in Ellenwood.  But ARF!'s third annual Easter egg hunt was a peaceable kingdom of well mannered, good dogs.

This year Candy Pyron prepared some delicious and colorful hard-boiled eggs as well as homemade dog cookies (see recipe below) in the shape of chicks, bunnies, cats, and bones.  ARF! provided snacks for the humans at the party, including a cake that Candy decorated in the shape of a dog.

CANDY'S CANINE COOKIE CORNER
by Candy Pyron
 Traditional Tex-Mex Easter Cookies
 1 1/2 c. Cornmeal
 1/3 c. Margarine, melted
 3/4 c. Powdered Milk
 1 Egg, beaten
 3/4 c. V-8 Juice, regular or spicy
 3 1/2 c. Whole Wheat Flour

In a large bowl, mix together first five ingredients.  Add flour 1/2 cup at a time mixing well after each addition.  Knead 3-4 minutes, adding more flour if necessary to make a very stiff dough.  Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut into shapes.  Bake at 325 degrees on a greased cookie sheet approx. 50 minutes.  Allow to cool and dry out until hard.  Makes 1 3/4 lbs.
